as the recipients of the 10th Annual Maltz Heritage Award for being a force of positive change in the community

Stewart Kohl and The Riverside Company were presented with the Maltz Heritage Award on May 1, 2023 at 6 p.m. during a celebration that recognized their transformational leadership, civic engagement, and philanthropic contributions in Northeast Ohio.


Founded with the mission to promote acceptance and inclusion of all people, the Maltz Museum presents exhibitions and programs that explore diverse stories around identity, culture, and connection. The Maltz Heritage Award is the Museum’s largest fundraising event of the year, enabling us to continue offering robust programming year round.

Stewart Kohl

Stewart Kohl is Co-CEO of The Riverside Company, a global private capital firm with its largest office in Cleveland. With deep roots in Northeast Ohio, Riverside helps its investors, including many in NE Ohio, achieve their financial objectives by investing in high potential companies and then making them bigger and better. Stewart is proud of Riverside’s role in Cleveland’s vibrant financial services industry. A longtime advocate of the region and passionate philanthropist, Stewart has been active with The Cleveland Clinic, Oberlin College, The Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, The Cleveland Foundation, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Case Western Reserve University, University Circle, Inc., Greater Cleveland Food Bank, the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes and The Centers among other institutions. Stewart currently serves on several local boards and is the founder of VeloSano, the Cleveland Clinic’s cycling event that has raised over $30 million for cancer research.
